Dr. Stéphan TOBALEM
Dr Stéphan Tobalem is an ophthalmologist and board-certified specialist in ophthalmic surgery, specializing exclusively in oculoplastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery (Swiss FMH, European EBO and international ICO certification). He is an expert in beautification, rejuvenation and reconstruction of the eyelids and eyes.
He is registered in the Swiss Federal Register of Medical Professions (medreg) under the number GLN 7601003428643, and is authorized to bill insurance companies.
After graduating in medicine (2014), he trained in ophthalmology at the University Hospitals of Geneva and then at the Fondation Ophtalmologique A. de Rothschild in Paris, receiving his Swiss diploma (FMH) and European certification (EBO) as a specialist in ophthalmology (2020). After two years as head of clinic at Geneva University Hospitals, he obtained his Swiss diploma (FMH) in ophthalmic surgery (2022). Wishing to perfect his skills specifically in orbito-palpebral reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery, he undertook a fellowship for a further two years in the prestigious oculoplastic unit at the Université de Montréal, working with oculoplastic experts (Prof. Patrick Boulos, Prof. François Codère, Prof. Isabelle Hardy, Prof. Evan Kalin-Hajdu, Prof. Jamie Wong). He is thus doubly qualified as an ophthalmic surgeon and an eyelid plastic and aesthetic surgeon. On his return to Switzerland (2023), he will be appointed Head of Oculoplastics in the Ophthalmology Department of the University Hospitals of Geneva, where he will care for both adult and paediatric patients.
In 2024, he set up as an oculoplastic surgeon in private practice at Clinique Tobalem, and became an accredited doctor for oculoplastic surgery at Hôpital de la Tour, Clinique Générale Beaulieu-Swiss Medical Network and Hirslanden Clinique la Colline & Hirslanden Clinique des Grangettes.
The care he provides is always based on the lightest possible, safest and most reliable techniques, scientifically validated, with the constant and absolute pursuit of detail and naturalness.
His work is published and cited in leading scientific journals, and he is a regular speaker at national and international conferences.
He is a member of the Fédération des Médecins Helvétiques (FMH), the Association des Médecins du Canton de Genève (AMGe), the Société Vaudoise de Médecine (SVM), the Société Suisse d’Ophtalmologie (SSO) and the Société Française d’Ophtalmologie (SFO).
