Calves
When the cause is hypertrophy of the gastrocnemius muscle, the large muscle in the back of the leg, it is possible to simply reduce the thickness of the muscle with botulinum toxin injections. When the cause is excess fat or lipoedema (lymphodema), surgical treatment with liposuction can bring about an improvement. On the other hand, when the calf is too thin, volume can be increased by implanting or transferring one's own fat (lipofilling).
