Breast Augmentation with Préservé™ vs. Mia™
OBJECTIF
To increase breast volume using a modern, minimally invasive technique performed under local anesthesia in approximately 30 minutes, involving the placement of Motiva implants through a very small, nearly invisible incision of less than 2 cm, while preserving natural tissues (glands, ligaments, and sensitivity) as much as possible. This approach allows for a quick recovery within 48 hours and provides a natural, long-lasting, and stable result.
PRÉSERVÉ™️ VS. MIA FEM TECH®️
The difference between the two methods, developed by the same laboratory Establishment Labs (Motiva), lies in the surgical approach: either inframammary (under the breast) for Préservé™️ or axillary (under the arm) for MIA Femtech™️.
MIA technique (axillary approach):- Incision in the armpit, leaving no scar on the breast, but:
- Scar may be visible in a T-shirt or when arms are raised
- More limited surgical access
- Limited implant size options (125–195 cc)
- Revisions or corrections are more complex and may require a second inframammary scar
- Incision in the natural fold under the breast, leaving a scar on the breast but very discreet due to its short length (2 cm) and hidden in the breast crease
- Optimal surgical control
- A wide range of implant sizes (125–500 cc)
- Greater precision in results, especially better control of implant positioning
- Easier revisions or adjustments over time
ANESTHESIA
Local anesthesia, with the possibility of additional sedation if needed.

PROCEDURE
A small incision of approximately 2 cm is made in the natural inframammary fold beneath the breast, making it nearly invisible. Through this small incision, a space to accommodate the implant is created gradually and atraumatically using an expansion balloon: the balloon is inserted deflated, then gently inflated to create the space, allowing preservation of tissues and minimizing trauma. This results in less pain, less bleeding, and faster recovery. Once the pocket is properly prepared, the breast implant is inserted with precision, positioned to achieve a natural and harmonious shape, and adjusted to ensure optimal symmetry. The incision is closed with very fine, absorbable sutures for a discreet scar. Breast implant placement can be combined with fat injection (composite or hybrid breast augmentation). In cases of associated breast ptosis (sagging breasts, low areolas), it may be necessary to reduce the skin envelope to lift the breast (breast lift or mastopexy). This will result in more significant scars (around the areola ± vertical or inverted T). At the end of the procedure, a shaping dressing is applied using an elastic bandage.
IMPLANTS
Motiva Implante. The implants comply with strict CE marking standards and are approved by Swissmedic.
POST-OPERATIVE
Postoperative recovery is generally very simple, with minimal pain, swelling (edema), and bruising. Normal activities can usually be resumed after just 48 hours. A wireless sports bra must be worn day and night for 4 weeks. First dressing removed after 48 hours. No stitches to remove (absorbable sutures). Future pregnancy and breastfeeding are possible, but it is recommended to wait at least six months after surgery.
